Orginally I thought I would upload a photo of one of my children playing but figured that has been done and by photographers much better than I. Instead, I am using a photo that may not seem whimsical at first glance. According to the definition above, determined by impulse or whim rather than reason, my impulse pregnancy shot taken moments before the sunset on the beach should fit. Even though I have a professional photographer as a dear friend, I have never been talked into "belly shots" in any of my 6 pregnancies. I love seeing other peoples prego bellies but not my own. However, I love this shot during my last pregnancy, and yes, final baby. We were at a judo tournament near the beach and decided to take a few moments with the kids before heading home. At the last possible moment, dh suggested trying to get shots of the sunset with us in the foreground. After taking many of the kids, I decided on impulse to take a "belly" shot as well. (Of course, dh was doing the encouraging and actual shooting.) Suprisingly, I really like the photo even though my badonkadonk is nearly as large as my belly. Who knew? (Insert "Shut up Jim (brother)!" The other part of the definitione seems to fit too. (At least in my crazy, sleep deprived world with few adult interactions and where definitions are not as important as the thrill of making your own.)
Anyhoo, back to why the first part fits...Odd or fantastic in appearance-well yeah it is a photo of me after all. What else could it be?

Anything on a beach at sunset seems whimsical to me. Beautiful sunset.
